A Portable Closed-looped Dual-mode Neural Electrical Stimulation System
This paper presents a system designed for the self-adjustable stimulation of nerve electrical signals. The system leverages the ADS1298 chip for front-end neural signal acquisition and an STM32 microcontroller for control functions. The STM32 microcontroller generates electrical stimulation pulses in response to abnormal signals. This system can emulate neural signals below $200 \mu \mathrm{~V}$. It can deliver electrical stimulation pulses with adjustable parameters, including voltage amplitudes from 0 to 3.3 V, currents up to 1 mA, frequencies up to 1 kHz, and minimum pulse widths of $1 \mu \mathrm{~s}$. The system’s ability to adjust amplitude, pulse width, and frequency of stimulation pulses makes it suitable for adaptive closed-loop nerve stimulation therapies for Parkinson’s disease patients or others with disorder neurological conditions.
