Design and Simulation of Dual Band Hexagonal Shaped Slot Antenna for 5G Wireless Applications
This paper presents a hexagon-shaped step slot antenna that uses a Rogers RT Duroid 5880 substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.20 and ±0.02 tolerance. This antenna has two operating frequencies: 26.14 GHz and 35.26 GHz, and this gives the operation of the antenna in the two bands, i.e., the K band and the Ka band. To make this possible, a step slot is introduced on both sides of the feed line inside the patch. The hexagon-shaped patch with hexagonal slot combined with step slots provides novelty to this antenna. The antenna shows very impressive results when simulated, giving an efficiency of 94.1% at 26.14 GHz and 90.4% at 35.26 GHz, and it also observes a high gain of 9.289 at the frequency of 26.14 GHz; adding to this, the return loss for both frequencies is observed to be -21.76 for the first operating frequency and -21.691 for the second operating frequency.
