A Novel Buck Converter Topology with High Step Down Ratio with Continuous Input Current

In high step-down applications, Interleaved Buck Converters (IBCs) are favored due to their fast transient response and high conversion ratio. However, conventional IBCs face challenges such as high voltage stress across switches, often reaching the input voltage level, which limits their suitability for high-voltage applications. Additionally, the input side experiences high current ripple, which can degrade the source's capacity and lifespan. To address these issues, this paper proposes an improved IBC design that provides continuous input current and significantly reduces voltage stress on switches, making it highly suitable for high-voltage, high step-down applications. Theoretical analysis of the proposed converter is presented and validated through MATLAB Simulink simulations, demonstrating its effectiveness.
