Polarizer Lens Applied to Planar Dual Circularly Polarized Multi-Beam Antenna

A novel 3D printed polarizer lens is proposed to realize dual circularly polarized (CP) multi-beam planar antenna array. The polarizer is composed of nine single-layer polarizer, and the dielectric constant change of each layer in the horizontal direction conforms to the dielectric constant distribution law of Luneberg lens. Its unit is a dielectric spindle-shaped structure with thick middle and narrow sides. The size of its circular cross section is based on the continuously varying dielectric constant at each position. The polarizer composed of this unit structure is able to realize the conversion of LP signal of edge focus into CP wave among a large scanning angle. The focus of the dielectric polarizer lens are close to a plane. Combining the polarizer with five dual-LP antennas, a dual-CP multibeam antenna array is realized, and it can achieve a dual CP scanning of ± 55 ○ and a port gain greater than 18.4 dBic.
