Comparative Analysis of Encryption Approaches for Mitigating IoT Network Attacks: Evaluating Performance and Security Metrics
This paper focuses on various encryption approaches to cope with different network attacks on IoT devices and a quality analysis of them has been performed. Currently network attacks such as, IoT botnets, DNS threats, shadow IoT, IoT body defense and IoT ransomware are the most vulnerable to IoT devices. These attacks can be solved using encryption algorithms such as Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) algorithm, Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm and Twofish algorithm. These algorithms are analysed using cryptography tools, which leads to increased performance of IoT devices. The performance of the proposed system is estimated using performance metrics such as time, encrypted data size and breakthrough time. From this paper it is observed that, AES consumes more operating time and more memory. DES and RSA consume average operating time while two fish consume less time. RSA uses less memory. The security level of AES, RSA and DES is lower than that of the two-fish algorithm because of the higher burst time. Security is provided by two fish algorithms better than other algorithms.
