Abstract

A broadband high-gain <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$16\times 16$</tex> array in W-band and its radiation character are presented. The array consists of subarray of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2\times 2$</tex> cavity antenna based on ridge gap waveguide technique (RGWG). The upper printed circuit boards (PCB) lays the substrate integrated <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2 \times 2$</tex> slot antenna array and the lower layer is the GWG power divider feeding network. A novel T-junction power divider and a standard rectangular waveguide GWG transition interface is designed and manufactured. Simulated results show that the array has a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\vert \mathrm{S}11\vert \leqq 10\text{ dB}$</tex>, a maximum gain of 31.23 dB and a 3 dB beam width of 4 degree in the operating frequency range of 93–105 GHz, measurements of the manufactured antenna were as expected.
