Absorptive Energy Selective Surface for High-Power Microwave Protection and Stealth
This paper proposes an absorptive energy selective surface (AESS). It combines the advantages of traditional energy selective surface (ESS) and frequency selective absorber (FSR). This AESS aims to achieve high-power microwave (HPM) protection and electromagnetic (EM) stealth capabilities. By loading PIN diodes and lumped resistors, it can transmit signals within its operating band while absorbing electromagnetic waves outside this band. Simulation results demonstrate that under low power signal incidence, it exhibits a transmission window with an insertion loss (IL) of 1 dB from 3.5 to 3.90 GHz and two-sided absorption bands with over 90% absorptivity in the range of 2.08-2.64 GHz and 4.58-7.00 GHz. Under HPM incidence, the shielding effectiveness (SE) is more than 13 dB, and an absorption band from 2.22 to 6.3 GHz is obtained.
