Asymmetrically Split-Cylinder Resonator with Air Gap for Complex Permittivity Measurements
A simple but very effective theoretical analysis is presented to model an asymmetric split-cylinder resonator (SCR) formed by the co-loading of a dielectric sample with an air gap. By calculating the frequency deviation due to the fringing field effect at the flange and correcting the test frequency, it is possible to utilize a simple model of a closed cavity filled with multiple dielectric layers to accurately extract the dielectric constant of the dielectric sheet in an asymmetric SCR. The validity of the proposed method has been investigated experimentally at 10–20 GHz.
