Evaluation of Platelet Counts and Associated Factors using Statistical Methods
Platelet count is a key indicator of general health and plays a crucial function in clinical diagnosis. Considering that abnormal platelet counts might be an indicator of more serious health issues; they are the subject of intense medical attention. This study sets out to examine in depth the complex relationship between platelet counts and a wide range of significant factors, such as age, gender, location, and seasonal changes in the Northeast region of Indian subcontinent. Employing a comprehensive dataset that includes patient profiles and their corresponding platelet counts, a stringent statistical analysis was conducted using a trio of techniques—ANOVA, the Kruskal-Wallis test, and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression—to determine these associations. The outcomes indicate the significant impact of location on platelet counts, while age shows only a mild impact. However, the impact of seasonality appears to be negligible. Both non-parametric and parametric studies produce conflicting findings about the effect of gender. Platelet counts tend to decrease with age, and this trend is supported by linear regression models for both the West Bengal and Bangladesh cohorts. However, age's ability to explain things is still limited. In addition to explaining the myriad factors that affect platelet counts, this study highlights the critical need for more investigation into this topic to get more familiar with it and improve healthcare.
