The Development and Electrical and Morphological Characterization of some Electrodes on the Sponge Structure used in the Realization of Supercapacitors
The development of supercapacitor electrodes is an interesting topic in the development of structures for storing and generating electrical energy. The electrodes play a crucial role in terms of active surface area, amount of stored charge and are characterized by a number of electrical parameters, such as equivalent series resistance, electrical capacitance or electrical conductivity. In this work, we propose a new approach for the fabrication of electrodes on a nickel substrate and different types of kitchen sponges with different porosity. Electrodes with and without sponge are compared to emphasize the advantages of using kitchen sponges in the structure of the fabricated electrodes, as cheap, replaceable and biodegradable materials. Four electrodes were fabricated: one in which no sponge was usedand in which the material was applied directly to the nickel substrate with a roller and a current collector, and three other electrodes for which kitchen sponges with different porosity were used.
