Comparative Workbench Study of MTBF for PoL Converters with discrete Transistors vs. integrated PoL
Designers of power supplies (intended for any type of load) have recently been making efforts to increase their reliability and efficiency. This is imperatively required by the current Decarbonization concept which imposes design restrictions on energy consumption, materials and maintenance. A new trend that is part of these wishes is the use of IPoL (Integrated Point of Load) DC-DC converters. The novelty brought by this work is the comparison of the figures obtained for the reliability prediction of a PoL DC-DC converter made with discrete devices vs. an integrated one. Finally, it is established that the integrated converter has a higher reliability.
