In the context of a constantly changing global economy, the relevance of higher education for labor market integration has a crucial impact. This article highlights the competencies acquired by students during their university studies and assesses how well they meet the requirements of industry employers. The research adopts a mixed approach, combining existing data with that obtained through the analysis of experiences of students participating in the TIE M Plus competition and the feedback received from employers. This reveals both strengths and deficiencies in university education, emphasizing the need to adapt the curriculum to better align with labor market demands. The TIE competition offers students the opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired during their university studies. The competition subjects are meticulously prepared by experts from leading companies, based on their direct expertise in the respective fields and a deep understanding of current market requirements and challenges. Solving and understanding these subjects is the best indicator of the preparation of future industry professionals. Therefore, the results obtained not only reflect their level of competence and ability to solve complex problems, but also demonstrate how well they are prepared to apply the skills acquired in university to meet the real world demands and challenges of the professional environment. To improve the alignment of higher education with labor market requirements, a close collaboration between higher education institutions and the business environment is necessary. Through this collaboration, major companies can provide real-time information on industry needs and can organize competitions like TIE in partnership, ensuring the relevance of university education and facilitating an efficient transition of graduates to the labor market.
