Electric Field Analysis and Optimization Applied to the Design of a High Voltage Test Transformer

This paper proposes the development of a high-voltage transformer for dielectric tests, designed to minimize the electric field in critical regions, such as the ends of the windings, aiming to reduce stress on the insulation and prolong the equipment's service life. To achieve this, three optimization geometrical strategies (trapezoidal, exponential, and quadratic) were applied, based on mathematical equations and computational simulations using the finite element method. The two-dimensional transformer design included adjustments in the arrangement of winding layers and the use of weighted parameters to improve the electric field profile. Simulations showed that the quadratic optimization redistributed the electric field more efficiently, with a 6.82% decrease.
