Haptic system for the remote control of a robotic structure

Robot teleoperation is a transformative field that can enable workers to safely perform tasks in dangerous environments [1]. This paper presents the development of an independent control system, capable of acquiring and providing haptic feedback, whilst uploading real-time data to a Wi-Fi connected database. The chosen control method is presented and concurrently optimized through the implementation of a simplistic sample fusion algorithm. The implemented feedback subsystem provides the dimension of the gripped object. Simultaneously, as an automated system, a safety subsystem has been implemented that stops the entire control process and alerts the operator upon detecting an obstruction within the robotic manipulator’s workspace. This research highlights the impact of the implemented data processing algorithms on both the responsiveness and accuracy of the system, proposing methods to optimize its overall performance.
