Application of Big Data in Cybersecurity
The rapid digitalization of modern society has accentuated the importance of cybersecurity, with threats becoming increasingly sophisticated. Big Data, characterized by its volume, speed, and variety, offers a transformative solution to these challenges. Big Data Cybersecurity Analytics (BDCA) systems harness big data technologies to analyse security events, aiming to safeguard organizational networks and data from cyber threats. This paper delves into the potential of Big Data in enhancing cybersecurity measures, highlighting the pivotal role of BDCA systems. In particular, the paper explores the major challenges faced by the cybersecurity domain and how Big Data tools and concepts can be employed to address these issues. The paper further evaluates the opportunities and inherent challenges of integrating Big Data in cybersecurity, emphasizing the ethical and privacy implications. Recommendations for the responsible and effective use of Big Data in cybersecurity are also presented, underscoring the balance between innovation and data protection.
