Potential-Based Design of Electret-Dielectric Elastomer Laminated Energy Harvester

This paper presents a design method for an electrostatic energy harvester, constructed by laminating an electret and a dielectric elastomer. The proposed design method is based on a static analysis of the electrostatic potential of the harvester. The calculation results showed strong agreement with dynamic simulation results, suggesting that the proposed method could be a substitute for dynamic simulation with a low computational cost. Validation experiments indicated that the proposed method is effective for design optimization of the thicknesses of the electret and the dielectric elastomer in the harvester.

Abstract

This paper presents a design method for an electrostatic energy harvester, constructed by laminating an electret and a dielectric elastomer. The proposed design method is based on a static analysis of the electrostatic potential of the harvester. The calculation results showed strong agreement with dynamic simulation results, suggesting that the proposed method could be a substitute for dynamic simulation with a low computational cost. Validation experiments indicated that the proposed method is effective for design optimization of the thicknesses of the electret and the dielectric elastomer in the harvester.
