Optimization of an Electromagnetic Halbach Array for Wireless Power Transfer
This paper reports an optimization approach for a wireless power transfer system based on the electromagnetic Halbach array (EHA). The approach is based on a numerical method that was developed to estimate the magnetic field distribution of the EHA. During the optimization, coil parameters such as the number of turns and pitch size were investigated in order to achieve a region of uniformly distributed magnetic field within the EHA. The optimization was first carried out in simulation and then verified in experiment. The optimized EHA can be used as the transmitter of a wireless power transfer system to increase the power transmission range.
