A Controled Kalman Based Spherical Modal Expansion of a Measured Radiated Far Field
This work presents a novel method for estimating mode coefficients in the spherical mode expansion of an antenna based on far-field radiation samples. The algorithm employs a mode-recursive strategy inspired by the Kalman Filter to produce high-quality, asymptotically unbiased estimators free from numerical artifacts. It also allows for controlled minimization of residual energy and covariance, enhancing accuracy and precision. The method effectiveness is validated through its application to a 260GHz Pillbox antenna, with results compared against standard batch methods.
