Aperture-Shared Design of Multifunctional Antenna Array with Dual-Band Beam Scanning
In this paper, an aperture-shared multifunctional dual-band antenna array with dual-band beam scanning has been presented, which is expected to be applied in Sub-6G wireless communications and X-band satellite communications. The proposed antenna array consists of a 1x3 patch antenna array as the upper layer and a 1x2 leaky wave antenna (LWA) array as the lower layer. To reduce the mutual coupling between different type of antennas, the patch antenna is discretized based on frequency selective surface (FSS) to achieve electromagnetic transparency to the LWA, and the LWA is designed based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure, whose inherent high-pass response ensures well isolation between the two antennas. The simulated results demonstrate that the proposed antenna array achieves impedance bandwidths of 4.6-5.2GHz and 10.5-11.6GHz and isolation higher than 20dB, and realizes scanning ranges of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\pm 30^{\circ}\text{ and }-38^{\circ} \sim 43^{\circ}$</tex> with gains of 13.2dBi (at 4.8GHz) and 17.0dBi (at 11.2GHz).
