Uplift Pressures Acting on the Crown Wall of Rubble Mound Structure under Monochromatic Wave Conditions: Case for the Same Level as the Freeboard and Armour Height

In Korea, since there is no guidelines for calculating the uplift pressure acting on the concrete of rubble mound structure, a modified form of Goda’s formula is used. The current design method by Goda’s formula has not been clearly established. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a design guidelines to directly estimating the uplift pressure acting on the crown wall. The magnitude and distribution of the uplift pressure are quite difficult because they are affected by the permeability and homogeneity of the core stones. In this study, a two-dimensional hydraulic model experiment using regular waves was performed to examine the uplift pressure acting on the crown wall, and then the main variables affecting the uplift pressure were examined. Using the experimental results, an empirical formula was derived to calculate the uplift pressure under regular wave conditions.
