The Effects of Self-Image, Physical-Image and Happiness on Occupational Aspirations of the University Students

This study was conducted with the aim of suggesting a plan to foster career coverage for smooth advancement into society amid the continued economic and employment difficulties of young people facing MZ generation as potential social participants who are the main pillars of economic activity and consumption in the future society. Accordingly, 183 beauty college students were studied, and as a result, the self-image, body image, happiness, and career aspiration presented as influencing factors all showed significant positive correlation at the p<.01 level. Additionally, a regression analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between major variables, and college students’ self-image, body image, and happiness had a significant positive effect on the development of career aspiration, and their explanatory power was calculated as 30.3%, 25.2%, and 10.2%, respectively. As a result of analyzing the relative influence of independent variables on dependent variables, the contribution to career aspiration was high in the order of self-image and body image, and happiness was excluded as the relative influence was minimal. Through this, it can be interpreted that the more positive the self-concept recognized by college students is, the higher the goal setting, effort, and aspiration for a career path. In order to cultivate career aspiration, it is necessary to support the university department’s self-exploration program and activities for appearance and physical management.
