The Relationship between Metacognition and Core Competencies of College Students Majoring in Beauty
This study analyzed the influence of metacognition on core competencies of 342 college students majoring in beauty. Data were collected from March 13 to April 26, 2024. Among the sub-factors of metacognition, conditional knowledge and evaluative ability were found to have a significant impact on many core competencies. In particular, conditional knowledge had a significant impact on self-management, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities, and evaluation ability was found to play an important role in creative thinking and community abilities. Additionally, declarative knowledge was found to have a positive effect on communication skills, and planning skills were found to contribute to enhancing creative thinking and curiosity. Based on these results, the need for developing an educational program that can strengthen the core competencies of beauty major students and systematically improve their field capabilities was suggested.
