Silver: promoção da carreira dos trabalahdores mais velhos
The main objective of the SILVER initiative was to create a response to promote the careers of older workers, integrating their needs and those of employers. The initiative involved four phases, the first of which involved listening to retired people and organisations about the transition to retirement. The second phase involved constructing and applying a two-way self-assessment questionnaire evaluating preparation for retirement. Based on the needs identified, a training course was designed to empower human resources to value older workers. At the same time, a psychoeducational programme was developed to provide knowledge, awareness and change, strengthening the capacity of older workers to engage in active ageing in the workplace. The results of the self-assessment showed little involvement and a lack of knowledge of the retirement process and alternatives on both sides. The training provided increased the competencies of 13 HR managers (M = 2.69 to M = 3.49) about the training objectives. At the same time, 88% of the participants in the toolbox acquired knowledge about career transition and considered the tools suitable for developing competencies related to their career choices. At the European level, both organisations and older workers need to prepare for the transition to retirement. However, the Silver initiative has shown positive results in counteracting this trend, positively impacting the skills of HR managers as well as older workers.
