MANEJO DA DOR EM PACIENTES PÓS-NEUROCIRURGIA: AVALIAÇÃO DE PROTOCOLOS ANALGÉSICOS E CONHECIMENTO DE ESTUDANTES DE CIÊNCIAS DA SAÚDE
Objetivo: Objective: To assess health science students’ knowledge of pain management in post-neurosurgery patients. Methods: This is a documentary, quantitative, cross-sectional study which aimed to assess the knowledge of health science students about pain management in post-neurosurgery patients. This research respected ethical precepts with the consent of the Ethics Committee of the State University of Pará. Results: A total of 12 students took part in the course. The participants completed a questionnaire before and after the course, allowing the evolution of their performance to be assessed. In the pre-course, the number of correct answers ranged from 7 to 14, with a median and average of 11 correct answers, and a standard deviation of ± 2.2, indicating considerable variation between the participants. Post-course, there was an improvement, with the minimum number of correct answers rising to 8 and both the median and average reaching 13 correct answers. Final considerations: The results show that although the course promoted significant advances in the participants’ performance, there are still gaps that highlight the need for more robust and continuous training in this area. The standardization of curricular content covering theoretical and practical aspects of pain management is essential to enable future doctors to provide quality care, considering the complexity of neurosurgical patients’ needs.
