OLS regression on the Impact of the Development of Cross-border E-commerce on Import and Export Trade

This study conducts a comprehensive empirical analysis on the impact of cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) on import and export trade in Guangdong Province. Utilizing OLS regression analysis and a series of statistical tests, the research finds that in the long run, a 1% increase in the business volume of CBEC leads to a 0.277% growth in total import and export trade. Additionally, the study explores the short-term dynamics and corrective mechanisms. The results show that CBEC has a significant positive impact on import and export trade. Policymakers should focus on talent cultivation, e-commerce introduction, inter-departmental information exchange, increased capital input for supply chain enterprises, and establishing a comprehensive foreign trade service platform. Businesses can leverage CBEC's advantages, like lower transaction costs and a broader range of import and export entities, to boost their international competitiveness. These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers and businesses to optimize strategies, such as enhancing talent cultivation and infrastructure investment, thereby promoting the sustainable development of cross-border e-commerce and international trade.
