Strategic Evolution and Adaptive Responses of Chinese International General Contractors under the Belt and Road Initiative: Insights from Social Network Analysis

Chinese companies have become more involved in international engineering contracting under China's "Going Global" and "Belt and Road" projects. They especially prefer the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model because of its strategic capabilities and resource orchestration. These measures have strengthened economic relations between China and the rest of the world, offering Chinese businesses access to a wide range of markets and investment opportunities that propel the expansion of international contracting. In this situation, successful procurement management is critical to the project's success and calls for strong supply chain management and tactical collaborations with stakeholders to obtain necessary resources.

Abstract

Chinese companies have become more involved in international engineering contracting under China's "Going Global" and "Belt and Road" projects. They especially prefer the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model because of its strategic capabilities and resource orchestration. These measures have strengthened economic relations between China and the rest of the world, offering Chinese businesses access to a wide range of markets and investment opportunities that propel the expansion of international contracting. In this situation, successful procurement management is critical to the project's success and calls for strong supply chain management and tactical collaborations with stakeholders to obtain necessary resources.
