The Album 30 Years of Presence as a Reflection of the Contemporary Artistic Process in Ukraine
The article examines the landmark publication 30 Years of Presence: Contemporary Ukrainian Artists (Kyiv: ArtHuss, 2022), dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. This comprehensive edition presents a diverse spectrum of contemporary Ukrainian art, encompassing various forms, genres, and artistic directions. Richly illustrated, the book provides valuable visual and analytical insights into Ukraine’s contemporary art scene, featuring some of the most striking creative projects and individual works produced in recent decades, with a particular focus on the period of the Russo-Ukrainian War (since 2014). The publication highlights the work of 82 artists and is part of the Ukrainian Art XX–XXI series, launched in 2018 by the Abramovych Foundation in collaboration with the Brovdi Art Foundation. This series is also a component of the larger publishing initiative Ukrainian Art Book, initiated in 2016 by the Abramovych Foundation and the ArtHuss Fund, under the direction of Igor Abramovych. The book aims to showcase how modern Ukrainian art, shaped over generations, has evolved into one of the most dynamic forces of national culture, reflecting its perspectives, challenges, contradictions, and innovations.
