Proposals for the Development of a Design Model for Teaching and Learning linking Viruses and Human History

In the confusion of COVID-19, many universities have developed general education courses for viruses in preparation for the future pandemic era, and university education has experienced an unprecedented "online opening of school."This study developed a convergent liberal arts course called "Virus and Human History" for all university students preparing for the post-COVID-19 era while overcoming the COVID-19 crisis, the largest virus crisis in human history, in the reality of university education, mainly opened only with "Virrology" as major courses. The "Virus and Human History" in a general education course was developed in this study, composed of basic scientific and general knowledge about the world of viruses identified by the development of modern science, understanding the domestic and foreign history of mankind's struggle with viruses spreading in the world, and meaningful classes to find ways to properly deal with the pandemic state coming unannounced in the future based on the experiences of COVID-19.Therefore, as can be seen from this COVID-19 virus pandemic, it is possible to provide students with an opportunity to understand these phenomena correctly by cultivating correct awareness of the history of the infectious disease caused by the virus and the coping of mankind included in this class at present when the pathological phenomenon of a society is clearly revealed due to the pandemic. In addition, it is expected to help students design the future by developing a wide perspective in career exploration after graduation by cultivating convergence capabilities to reflect on the infectious diseases spreading around the world in a humanistic way and by predicting and preparing for the future society in the post-COVID-19 era.
