Análisis de intervenciones de Seguridad Vial para reducir accidentes de tránsito en Ecuador

This article evaluates the impact of road safety management interventions in Ecuador, focusing on policies, programs, and actions implemented by the government to enhance road safety. Various strategies are analyzed, including awareness campaigns, improvements in road infrastructure, strict enforcement of traffic laws, road safety education programs, and the driver's license point system established through the Organic Law of Land Transportation, Traffic, and Road Safety (LOTTTSV). The main objective is to assess the effectiveness of these measures in preventing accidents and protecting human lives on Ecuadorian roads. To achieve this, a comprehensive review of statistical data and comparative analyses was conducted to provide a detailed understanding of the current road safety situation in the country and to formulate practical recommendations aimed at optimizing current interventions and promoting a culture of road safety. The results revealed a significant impact, including a 22.56% reduction in accident rates over the past seven years and a 40% decrease in fatality rates in the last five years. Additionally, there has been an increase in driver’s awareness and adoption of safe behaviors. The conclusions highlight the need for a comprehensive and sustained long-term strategy to consolidate these advances and further improve road safety in Ecuador.
