Magnetic Skyrmion and Unconventional Computing

As data generation and processing speeds have dramatically increased in the 21st century, conventional computing architecture is encountering its limitation. One promising candidate to address these issues is unconventional computing, which offers more efficient data processing and reduced energy consumption. This article focuses on magnetic skyrmions in the field of spintronics, a key platform for next-generation computing, and explores how they can be applied towards unconventional computing.

Abstract

As data generation and processing speeds have dramatically increased in the 21st century, conventional computing architecture is encountering its limitation. One promising candidate to address these issues is unconventional computing, which offers more efficient data processing and reduced energy consumption. This article focuses on magnetic skyrmions in the field of spintronics, a key platform for next-generation computing, and explores how they can be applied towards unconventional computing.
