An Integrative Clinical Study On Meibomian Gland Dysfunction: Ayurvedic Perspective, Therapeutic Interventions, And Outcomes
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is a leading cause of evaporative dry eye, significantly impacting quality of life.Ayurvedic medicine describes similar conditions under "Shushkakshipaka," attributed to Vata-Pittaja dosha imbalance. This study evaluates the therapeutic efficacy of Pindi Kriya Kalp, an Ayurvedic topical therapy, by optimizing its protocol and comparing it with standard carboxymethyl cellulose eye drops.Sixty patients were randomized into two groups, and clinical outcomes were assessed at baseline, day 15, and day 45.Results revealed that Pindi Kriya Kalp significantly reduced symptoms of dryness, irritation, and photophobia, offering a viable integrative approach to managing MGD.
