Treatment of psoriasis in patients with chronic infection
This study comprehensively examines the management of psoriasis in patients with concurrent infectious diseases, focusing on chronic conditions such as tuberculosis, latent tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).Key findings indicate that while TNF- inhibitors pose a significant risk for reactivating latent tuberculosis, treatments targeting IL-17 and IL-23 are associated with a lower risk.In the context of viral hepatitis, screening for hepatitis B and C is crucial, with varying levels of risk linked to different immunosuppressive therapies. For HIV patients, a cautious approach is recommended, starting with topical treatments and antiretroviral therapy before progressing to systemic options.Overall, the treatment strategy for psoriasis in these patients should be tailored to individual infectious disease status and guided by multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure safety and efficacy.
