Human Rights in the Laws of Ancient Iraq

At a very early period, Iraqis enjoyed political rights through public councils that some researchers have called primitivedemocracy. Despite the decline of the democratic function of these councils with the formation of the unified state in ancient Iraq and their becoming administrative bodies subordinate to the authority, their primary role in the early eras of ancient Iraq(the era of the Sumerian city-states) cannot be ignored.
