Synergetic effect of heat extraction with power generation of HDR based on organic Rankine cycle and cogeneration

Due to huge reserves, stability and sustainability, Hot Dry Rock (HDR) is regarded as a strategic energy. organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is often adopted for thermal power generation, and combined heat and power (CHP) is a practicable to enhance the system efficiency. However, CHP may largely reduce the reinjection temperature compared with pure power generation. An integrated model consisting of heat extraction from HDR and energy conversion is proposed based on ORC and CHP. The main purpose is to study the synergistic effect of heat extraction and power generation. The results indicate that the energy utilization efficiency of CHP systems with heat pump is the highest, much higher than that of pure ORC power generation systems. and can effectively reduce CO 2 emissions and coal usage. The energy conversion system will change the reinjection temperature, thereby influencing the production capacity. Compared with ORC, condensation heat used an the heating source can enhance both the reinjection temperature and production capacity. However, if geothermal tail water is used as the heating source, reinjection temperature will be reduced, especially for the usage of heat pump. From the space heating viewpoint, the CHP mode of condensation heat, direct heating and heat pump can greatly grow the heating ability and the overall system efficiency, which can be popularized in engineering application.
