Examining The Impact Of COVID-19 On Brick Kiln Workers' Financial Conditions: A Case Study Of Punjab

People's lives and livelihoods were upended nationwide by the COVID-19 pandemic.Numerous news reports provide proof of the pandemic's significant effects on workers in the unorganised, informal sector. The majority of the workers in this industry are from lower castes where routine violations of labour laws safeguarding the interests of workers occur.Given that a sizable portion of the workforce in the unorganised sector is from SC and ST communities and that child exploitation and bonded labour are pervasive there, the brick business requires particular attention.Investigating the effects of the pandemic on brick kiln workers was the objective of this study.Data was collected from 600 brick kiln workers using random sampling technique. It is an effort to concentrate on the several difficulties pertaining to the working circumstances, problems that workers experience, and other socioeconomic factors for both owners and employees. The research is significant because it shows the overall state of the brick business in the region as well as the problems that still need to be resolved. In this sense, the study projects could have sufficient resources to illustrate current events and future directions in the subject. In order to effectively formulate policies for the welfare and growth of this industry, policymakers and the relevant authorities will be able to gather enough information and input.
