Capabilities affecting business performance: validity and reliability of a measurement instrument
Ordinary capabilities allow for some degree of sufficiency in the performance of a welldelineated task (Teece, 2014). The objective of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of an instrument that measures the capabilities that affect business performance. This cross-sectional study was conducted on management-level workers in restaurant companies in southern Sonora. It was carried out in two stages: content validity and reliability of the instrument. The results showed that the instrument is valid and reliable to be applied on a larger scale, in addition to making a contribution to the state of the art of the literature cited and to future research. Finally, it was concluded that any instrument must meet the requirements of validity and reliability before proceeding with the collection of the sample, since the data collected have an impact on the decision making process of the companies.
