Automation of order picking in warehouses
Today's logistics platforms are designed for warehousing storing, cross-docking operations and production tasks. In such an environment, the numerous handling tasks can be painful and expose operators to musculoskeletal disorders. Automating the order-picking process is a relevant solution to this problem. This article describes the design, development and implementation of a mobile manipulator robot in the ISEL robotics-logistics hall. This work, carried out in partnership with FM Logistic, identified the technological and scientific obstacles to be overcome in order to carry out these robotic handling tasks in a real environment. After outlining the state of the art, the authors present their methodology and the results of their research work.
