Situation contamination of tissue allograft products at the Tissue Bank, Viet Duc University Hospital
The current status of tissue allograft infection, rate and common microorganisms in tissue banks are missing data in the current medical literature in Vietnam. Objective: Describe the infection situation and characteristics of microorganisms on allografts.Subjects and methods: Descriptive, retrospective study on 774 samples from 155 allograft batches preserved at the Tissue Bank of Viet Duc University Hospital. Results: The overall infection rate for tissue allograft was 12/155 (7.74%) before decontamination, 3/155 (1.94%) after decontamination. The rate of positive bacterial cultures for each type of tissue was 3/3 (100%) for tracheal, 6/36 (16.7%) for tendons, and 3/63 (4.76%) for blood vessels. In the post-decontamination phase, the infection rates for tracheal and blood vessels were 2/3 (66.67%) and 1/63 (1.59%), respectively. The isolated bacteria were mainly aerobic bacteria, mostly Staphylococcus.Multi-resistant bacteria strains with high pathogenicity appeared: Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus -MRSA (+).
