Study of physiological diversity of leguminous (chickpea, lentil, soybean) based on the biochemical parameters of green mass and grain in the Volga Region

Based on the study of the relationship between biochemical parameters of green mass of soybean, chickpea and lentil accessions and grain yield and its quality, as well as criteria of laboratory tests for drought resistance in lentil, interspecific and intraspecific features of physiological reactions of leguminous plants in arid conditions of the Volga region are indicated at the phenotypic and genotypic levels. A general downward trend in grain protein content during the development of mechanical tissues in a green plant has been revealed, which, nevertheless, may be a mechanism of drought resistance, as in soybean. The useful substances and moisture accumulated in chickpea were most effective for crop formation and its quality. Lentil experienced the highest level of stress. It has been demonstrated that the degree of cell membrane damage, as well as the content of carotenoids and fats in the green mass of lentil can be criteria for its relative drought resistance.
