Diagnosis of Endometriosis of the Transverse Slope of the Rectum
The transverse fold of the rectum is the largest fold, it departs from the right wall of the intestine 6 cm above the anus. The other two start from the left wall of the rectum, which create a jagged or scalloped line around the circumference. At the level of this line, the cubic epithelium of the mucous membrane of the rectum passes into the multilayer squamous epithelium of the skin. A rare clinical case of pathology of the transverse fold of the rectum in a 39-year-old patient is presented, as well as the results of cytological and histological studies of the surgical material. This publication may be of interest to doctors of various specialties in the aspect of diagnosis of non-tumor diseases of the rectum.
