Path Planning and Basic Transmission Loss Analysis for Shortwave Communication
This study investigates point-to-point transoceanic shortwave communication, focusing on the locations of Guangzhou, China, and Surabaya, Indonesia. It analyzes the basic transmission loss of shortwave signals for Beijing time at 10:00 AM on October 1, 2024. Initially, the IRI2020 model was employed to obtain ionospheric electron density data, which facilitated the establishment of a relationship between electron density and altitude. Following the principles of shortwave reflection, a transoceanic propagation path was planned, and a genetic algorithm was utilized to solve the resultant system of equations. Subsequently, the analysis of basic transmission loss was conducted across four distinct aspects: the ionospheric absorption loss and additional system losses were estimated based on empirical data; the calculation of surface reflection loss employed the Miller-Brown rough surface approximation model, incorporating corrections to the Fresnel reflection coefficient; and the free space transmission loss was computed based on the planned effective path. Ultimately, multiple sets of shortwave transmission angles and frequencies were determined, and a comparative analysis of the basic transmission losses for each signal group was conducted.
