Analysis on Modified Wine Glass Shaped Transparent MIMO Antenna with Metamaterial

This paper proposes a 1x2 MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) antenna system that features a modified wine glass-shaped antenna with an I-shaped structure on the top layer and a C-shaped structure on the bottom layer, designed as a double-negative (DNG) metamaterial. The antenna is designed, simulated, and optimized at a frequency of 28 GHz using Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) as the conductive material. Three configurations are explored: parallel MIMO, orthogonal MIMO, and opposite MIMO. The results indicate that the parallel MIMO configuration demonstrates superior performance in terms of isolation and reduced mutual coupling effects. Specifically, the gain of the parallel MIMO configuration reaches 5.9 dBi, while the highest gain of 8 dBi is achieved with the opposite MIMO configuration. These findings suggest that the choice of MIMO configuration significantly impacts the overall performance of the antenna system in 5G applications.
