Innovative Designs for Enhanced Connectivity for 3G and 4G Cellular Networks

Cellular network planning is important for keeping networks fast as demand for mobile services continues growing. The goal of this paper is to plan both a 3G UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) network and a 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network for Hilla City in Iraq. Analysis were done to design these two networks for that area. 4G technology offers high-speed data and voice services, while 3G technology offers slower data and voice services compared to 4 G technology. It’s worth mentioning that both 3 G and 4 G cellular networks are commonly deployed by different mobile operators in Iraq country. In this study we have used the WiMAP software tool to plan and study the suggested design. Several calculation topics are used to assess the performance of the suggested planning, including elevation calculations, best server, carrier-to-interference ratio, power level, and coverage. In addition, certain customers and nodes are distributed throughout networks to evaluate the coverage, received power levels, and interference at various places within the planned area more precisely. The proposed design covers an area of 80 km2 centered in Hilla city in Iraq country where both UMTS and LTE designs are applied. This paper also discusses a comparative study between the two designs and offers ideas for improvements.
