Utilization of Partial and Curling Shaped Ground Planes Microstrip Antenna for L-Band Satellite Reception

Reception of NOAA-19 and Metop-B/C lowresolution optical remote sensing data is carried out at ground stations using L-band frequencies. This research proposes a microstrip antenna combined with a parabolic antenna for $\mathbf{L -}$ band reception. The design of the antenna utilized a combination of truncated and slot techniques on the aperture patch, partial and curling-shaped on ground planes. Measurements showed an impedance bandwidth of 1.02-2.01 $\mathbf{G H z}(\mathbf{9 9 0} \mathrm{MHz}$), an axial ratio bandwidth of $1.45-1.85 \mathrm{GHz}(400$ $\mathbf{M H z}$), and a microstrip antenna gain of $\mathbf{5. 8 3 \mathrm { dB } \text { When paired }}$ with a 1.5 m parabolic reflector, the total system gain reached $\mathbf{2 3. 6} \mathbf{d B}$. These results suggest that the developed antenna could be used as a feed option in ground stations for receiving satellite remote sensing data.
