Revolutionizing Agricultural Marketing in Ilocos Norte: A Location-Based Platform for Connecting Small Scale Farmers and Consumers
The purpose of this study is to develop technological innovation and solution, specifically a location-based platform utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) that connects small-scale farmers, consumers and wholesalers. The study directly benefits smallholder farmers and wholesalers in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, by providing farmers and wholesalers with the necessary technology to generate income through direct sales of their agricultural products to potential buyers specifically wholesalers. By bypassing intermediaries and middlemen, farmers can potentially achieve higher profits, while prospective wholesalers, including those purchasing in bulk, can enjoy lower prices, on agricultural products. The direct connection between farmers and wholesalers through this online platform addresses weaknesses in the existing trading system and creates a more equitable and efficient market environment for smallholder farmers and wholesalers. The study is focused on developing a location-based marketplace system that directly connects smallholder farmers in Ilocos Norte to wholesalers, eliminating the need for middlemen in the process.
