Voltage Stability Enhancement of Power System with FACTS Devices Based on Model Predictive Control
This paper describes an improved voltage stability control strategy based on Model Predictive Control (MPC) of power system with FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System) devices installed. In the proposed approach, FACTS devices are coordinated in such a way as to ensure an acceptable voltage profile incase of power system oscillations. The predictive models of FACTS devices are obtained and described. The modified IEEE 9 -bus system was used for calculations to show effectiveness of the proposed approach.
