A Design of High-Efficiency Broadband Rectenna for Wireless Energy Harvesting
This paper designs a broadband high-efficiency rectifying antenna for wireless energy harvesting, which features small size, low profile, high efficiency, and wide bandwidth. The rectenna employs a Huygens source electrically small antenna, with a fractional bandwidth of 4.1% and a peak realized gain of 4.2dBi. To achieve higher rectification efficiency, a broadband rectifying circuit is designed to work in conjunction with the antenna. The rectifying circuit uses a dual-diode parallel configuration and employs sectoral supports to suppress higher-order harmonics, thereby enhancing rectification efficiency. With a load resistance of 500Ω, the results show that a rectification efficiency of over 60% can be achieved in the 0.82GHz to 1.84GHz range with an input power of 12dBm, and the highest RF-DC conversion efficiency reaches 81% at the frequency of 915MHz. The design of this high-efficiency broadband rectenna not only advances the technology of wireless energy harvesting but also provides robust energy support for future wireless communication and Internet of Things applications.
