Progress in the Application of Bacteriophages in Different Fields
In recent years, with the overuse of antibiotics in modern medicine, the development of new antibiotics has slowed down, forcing antimicrobial resistance to continue to increase, and new strategies are needed to address this problem. Bacteriophage is a kind of virus that infects prokaryotes such as bacteria, fungi and actinomyces. Bacteriophage can make up for the shortcomings of traditional antibiotics and bactericidal technology. At the same time, because of its special physicochemical properties, such as stable structure, easy reproduction and convenient molecular biological operation, it has been widely used in many fields such as biology, medicine, food science and veterinary medicine. The commercial development of phage biologics abroad and the results of phage research in China in recent years indicate that we should follow the trend of phage research and application more optimistically, and further study and promote the application of phage as a bacteriostatic substance.
