WWW (Współtwórcze Wspólnoty Wiedzy). Zarys problematyki badań nad społeczną historią internetu w Polsce
This article aims to outline a cartographic view of the research field represented by the origins of internet access in Poland. The author argues that the phenomenon is characterized by local community activities, carried out as a counter to the monopoly of the state network provider. Neighborhood internet networks were pirated and allowed people living in Poland to join the worldwide movement to exchange bootleg copies of various contents. They also opened up the possibility of acquiring new knowledge, understood as a skill that gave competencies for better orientation in the digital world. The author concludes that the processes taking place at that time had a contributive character and are worth examining as part of the research on new localities. Keywords: history of the internet in Poland, neighborhood internet networks, piracy, contributive practices, knowledge distribution
