Liver metabolic abnormalities in obese patients infected with COVID-19
Obese individuals were twice as likely to develop COVID-19 and complications, To study lipid metabolism:cholesterol (CH), triglycerides (TG) and liver functional state,by studying the cytolysis syndrome Alaninaminotransferase (ALAT), aspartataminotranspeptidase (ASAT), Fib-4 test indicators, in obese patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. There were examined 44 patients: 27 men(61.62%), 17 women (38.8%). The average age was 55.16±4.5years.The degree of obesity was evaluated by BMI the ratio of body weight in kilograms to the square of height in meters (kg/m2). All patients were divided into 4 groups according to BMI: I gr. (n=9) BMI=30-34.9 kg/ m², II gr. (n=8) BMI=35-39.9 kg/m², III gr. (n=10), BMI>40 kg/m². Comparison group IV(CG) patients (n=17) infected with COVID-19, normal weight. The maximum increase în patients III gr. BMI>40 . ALAT: 64.3±6,2 u/l, p≤0.05, in gr.II-48.3±3.2 u/l, p≤0.05, in gr.I-44±3,2 u/l, p≥0.05 and controlgr.-40,3±2,4 u/l. The ASAT level in patients with gr. III was 55.2±5.3 u/l, p≤0.01, in gr. II-48.2±4,4 u/l, p≤0.01, in gr.I-44,2±3.4 u/l p≤0.05, in CG-34.8±1,7 u/l. Lipid spectrum: the maximum increase in TG levels was detected in III gr.-1,92±0.3 mmol/l, p≤0.05, in II gr.-1,88±0.3 mmol/l, p≤0.05, in 1 gr.-1.68±0.2 mmol/l, p≤0.05, compared to the CG-1.0±0.2 mmol/l. At III gr. there was a tendency to reduce the level of CH in the blood serum 3.9±0.2 mmol/l p≤0.001, in gr. II- 4.2±0.2 mmol/l p≤0.01 in gr. I-4.5±0.1 mmol/l p≤0.01 and to the control group-5.5±0.3 mmol/l. The Fib-4 index maximum, values were found in group III-2.07±0,3, in II-1,86±0,3, in gr.1-1,26±0,2,and control gr.–1,34±0,4. In group III, patients with BMI >40 kg/m² had marked disorders of lipid metabolism and liver function compared to patients in groups I, II and controls.
